The PingWu Martial Arts SL Academy Competition

The Scenario
Avatars will explore an event using various martial arts techniques in preparation for a contest between them all.

Step 1: Welcome to the Ping Wu Martial Arts Academy Dojang!

Everyone - Go to Our DAI 627 land location for orientation.

Go into the SF State Fighting Gators Dojang to meet PingWu, sign in and pick up the Lindens needed for purchasing the DCS2 Combat Game bare system. If you want more you have to purchase on your own and get it yourself.

Step 2: Training begins

Go to The SR Systems location to pick up the items and training that you need.

When you arrive, go to the SR SystemsPick up three things:

1) Freebie Fighter (floating rotating box)

2) Respectful bow gesture (floating rotating box)

3) Transport to the arena upstairs and buy the DCS2 combat system, the big black "dcs2" is the one you should click on, then right click and pay to buy.

Remember, I am only paying for the bare system, any thing else you buy is on your own $,but, please feel free to do so. We will not be using weapons for the contest.

This is the training area. The is a large Ying Yang mat on the floor. This is where you will practice your skills with/or without your partner/opponent. You can put up walls to confine yourselves to the arena mat by clicking the Yin/Yang ball floating above the arena mat.

Please be respectful, no greiving in this area what so ever. Soren is extending a great
courtesy to us, and especially to me as a fellow martial artist.

Step 3: Tryouts competition in the sky

Go to the Iowa Sandbox and please vote for Sarahs Sand box!

Click the green podium that says vote. It only cost 1$ and she has been really cool about letting use a large chunk of her space.

While you are in the sandbox, build something to bring to the Dojang!

Avatars will compete in several areas where can may find yourself in for a surprise at 200 or so meters up.

We will be above thesandbox owned by Sarah Constantine. Her normal policy is no weapons on or in the box.

But we will also be up at about 200 meters

However, if you have bought some have no fear....they will not go to waste.

Step 4: The tournament!

You will be called back to the Dojang for the competition.

Report back to the Dojang, pick up a uniform, put it on and sit at the cushion that is the same color as the belt the came with your uniform. You must remain seated while other compete.

Everyone fights, but assignments will be given in divisions.

Jane Valentino is staging manager (telling avatars to assemble in fighting groups, prearranged by PingWU, competition director) she will call fighters to the floor for each division. The fighter whose health runs out first loose the fight.

Each division will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

The following is the potential 1st line up in the experimentation, there should be a 1st second and 3rd place for each division: Whoever loses first has to document (snapshots) the following fights in their division. No exceptions.

1st division:

If a avatar is missing they are automatically disqualified!

After the event is over we will all try something crazy.....but we have to wait until the end.

Second Life Wedding

Kristina and Lithran Get Married in Second Life.

On Sunday afternoon, March 22, 2009 I went to a beautiful wedding at 4:00pm SLT. The bride was Kristina and the groom was Lithran. The wedding took place within a private blue sphere, somewhere up really high. The only way to get there was by special invitation.

Once inside the sphere, the black and red motiff surrounds the atmosphere with a kind of quick, sweet hug and a nice hint of intimacy, obvious to some guest and not to others. They were surrounded by friends, group members and special guests.

Here Comes the Bride!

Of course the wedding did not start on time, what wedding does? Lithran, like all grooms, got nervous and needed a little support. We all chimmed in and let him know to just relax. Kristina finally arrived about 20 minutes late, her avatar was wearing a stunningly beautiful glowing blood red dress.

The Vows.

The ceremony began. The minister was the female avatar in the middle and used voice chat to communicate.

They exchanged vows: Lithran through voice and Kristina through written chat. They exchanged rings, kissed and walked down the Isle together.

After being congratulations, the music and everyone started dancing.

Explorer Achievers have been there, done that and have the t-shirt...in fact they have a plethora of t-shirts, badges, trophies and other rewards. EAs are the completionists of the gamer world. They like to find new places, quests, easter eggs, unlocks, maps etc. and check them off as have, visited or beaten. Like real world travelers, EAs enjoy collecting memorabilia that helps them relive their experiences later.
Explorer Socializers are the glue of the online world. Not only do they like to delve in to find all the cool stuff, but they also enjoy sharing that knowledge with others. Explorer socializers power the wikis, maps, forums and theory craft sites of the gamer world.

My PingWu persona from Second Life had very different results, his gameDNA is KILLER. I have again quoted that data below:The Killer motto:"No enemy left standing!"Description:

It's the thrill of the kill. Trophies are okay, but that momentary rush attained from besting an opponent is what it's all about.

People with high Killer scores prefer the player-versus-player aspect of any game more than anything offered by the environment. They relish the adrenaline and challenge of pitting themselves against real people. Not all Killers are gankers as some critics claim. While getting the jump on the unprepared for a quick kill is important fun for some Killers, many prefer group PvP and revel in a well executed team maneuver that blows away the opposing side.

Secondary influences

Killer Achievers pit themselves against PvE challenges as well--though often it's a means to an end. A KA often enjoys PvP that focuses on their skill as an individual contributor (duels, and so forth) as well as their personal position on competitive ladders and such.
Killer Socializers often seek out PvP in a game, but they are looking to socialize with and form alliances and teams with other players who are interested in doing the same. KS tend to seek out guilds or clans that organize formal PvP events, or work on group strategies and tactics.
Killer Explorers like to feel immersed in a virtual worlds and see themselves as a great villain or crusader within that world. They seek out challenges against other players, but they are going to find all the areas of that world. Trust an KE to know all the best ambush spots and sniper perches.

Project Concepts

My concept is to create a meeting and event special events location for martial arts enthusiasts can come together have meetings, train and have tournaments. Rental space would be available for so special events like dancing or clubbing, if desired.

The environments will be based on Real world martial arts situations and activities. The avatars would be able to do multiple forms, free fighting and sparring in addition to using weapons.

The environments and buildings could be influenced by old world buildings like Shaolin temples,
Traditional dojos

Tournaments could be held and publicized for members of the virtual space.

My list of challenges are: learning how to use scripting, importing modeling from outside of Second Life, modeling in Second Life, obtaining enough land to have at least 4 buildings and some outside training areas, music and video importing.

Adventures in Second Life

My Avatar PingWu was discovered by several very helpful female Avatars in the last week or so. PingWu has made some pretty interesting friends in the digital realm of Second Life. After exploring around various placesand running into a bunch of a random motley crew avatars, groups of wild personas and creatures PingWu was watching the sunset when he was approach by a scantly clad vision of curves. She wiggled and danced in front of him. He complemented her on her dancing. She said thanks...and offered to have sex with him. This was a shock to him. Of course the next thing out of this beauty's chat was that it would cost him L$400. He laughed. A lot. She vanished. For one he had never had sex, but then for another he didn't know. Just when things seemed their weirdest one late nig

ht PingWu encountered a very pretty Avatar named Rapunzel Lionheart.

What a sweet lady. She befriended PingWu on a strange island and led him to wear he could get free clothes and other objects.

An interesting thing about her besides her helpfulness was her warning about vampires.

The necklace she wears is of garlic. PingWu had one encounter with a vampire, apparently he was tricked,

and bitten. He did not accept

turning and was not horribly affected. They chatted for a long while before they became friends and then parted. PingWu runs into her from time to time. She thinks it's very interesting that PingWu likes to wear a black T-shirt with a blood red bat on it.A long with PingWu's new free outfits he has been seen working out on the treadmill in a Fighting Gators Taekwondo Uniform.

PingWu meets Kristina Fireguard

Another wonderful new friend that PingWu made was that of a Avatar named Kristina Fireguard. Kristina Fireguard is a feisty female who PingWu encountered on the edge of an island where PingWu wound up exercising and shopping for a better quality outfit. She was brandishing sword and shield. When PingWu asked her to demonstrate some of her skill she started started whooping some serious ass!

She seemed to know her way around. She was willing to talk

alot and was very friendly. She says she helped lots of people.

She also knew that PingWu had encountered a vampire. Something about her made him very very curious.

She offered to help him and then led him on an adventure.

He followed her by transport and he had no idea where

he would end up. They conversed by chat at first, her advising him along the way. Shortly there after he was warned to only communicate by IM. This was extremely important. Ping

Wu can't say how she was able to lead him to the places he went, She did guided him to what he needed to find.

He's very grateful. She likes him as well. She calls him Ping. He digs it.

PingWu goes dancing.

PingWu was running one when he got a message from Kristina Fireguard. PingWu was able to talk to her but she was in a completely different location. She sent him a transporter. He accepted and was suddenly transported to a night club. The music was infectious!

The funk was being DJ'd with some pretty musicology

Kool and the Gang, Prince, and Janet Jackson!!! The place was thumping. PingWu found himself dancing in a group of funkateers tearing up the dance floor.

There, there...There.com

Well, There.com is a funny little place. More of an illustrative or even cartoonish graphic style. There .com has been fun and can be just as tacky as Secondlife when it comes to people approaching with inappropriateness. It's a funny thing, actually...but people really do seem to let go of whatever it is that prevents them from blowing past their "filters" and inhibitions in real life when it comes to their behavior in virtual spaces.

My avatar's name is Firehorse94114.

I must say that I found some very helpful people in both worlds, but in There.com I was taken on some really cool adventures by one avatar owned by "Megan". This lady knew where to have some fun and I rode shotgun with her on a few car adventures. I also had some cool things times with a few helpful avatars.

I learned that some can be extreme.

One avatar in particular barged in on me at the spa, gawked and gestured to me from a couch the whole time, saying the she really would like to help me since I am new and has decided that I am now her boyfriend, that we should make this one really cool place I found our home, and that we should make out on the couch as much as virtually possible.

Like Wow! For real?

PingWu, My Second Life Pesona

My Second Life persona will be one of a Magical person in human form, named PingWu, who has been rumored to be able to turn himself into a dragon.

Therefore, my virtual persona will be a dynamic individual who is very talented in the arts and highly skilled in the arts.

He is also charming but can be very standoffish without regard.

His appetite for the company of the opposite sex is feverish and his flirtation is downright devilish.

His phobias are of other magical creatures and tries to stay clear of them all.

What will he be like? Who will he encounter and influence?

#8. Features of Toontown (like you are really there)?

The best feature to me is one that I don't think most people, or at least kids, use. To get a good immersive feeling from the game, hit the TAB button to switch your viewing position. You can cycle through 5 different viewing angles.

The one I like the best is the 1st person angle.

In this viewing angle you cannot see your avatar because you view is from the avatar's perspective. This bar far gives the best immersive feeling in the game.

#11. The concept of “health” of each avatar, and how “health” managed and displayed

I found this particular arena to be a bit funky, but turned out to be kind of funny. Your avatar's health is displayed by a green head in the bottom left sector of the HUD. It has a big smile and your health points displayed in eyes. If you have a free account your points are at a low cap amount like 16. Further game play and subscribing will give you a larger cap, my daughter's is up to about 40.

When you fight Cogs you are bound to lose a few points, this will be shown in your health indicators eyes along with a weird grin; however, if a heavy duty Cog kicks your butt and you lose too many points your avatar will display an extremely articulated depressed and droopy posture of classic cartoon attitude.

This of course a visual means to make you motivate your avatar. You can go back to the playground and just hang around to slowly gain points, if someone clicks your name you will gain points, or you can find ice cream cones in your home area.

You can see anyones stats by clicking their name. It will be displayed in the top right sector of the HUD.

What was your favorite activity in Toontown, #16

My favorite activity is playing in the trolley games area. I like it because of the variety of games and the games are somewhat challenging at first. The cannon, RPG shooter and the treasure hunt are among my favorites in the game.

I like the idea of rewards in the game and if you get another player to go in with you then it becomes even more competitive. This adds to the excitement because if you are not careful and strategic, the other player will beat you.

Toontown is crazy!
